A crucial discussion meeting on the conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Roll 2026 was held today at the DC Conference Hall, Lawngtlai, under the chairmanship of District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner Shri Donny Lalruatsanga.
Addressing the gathering, the DEO emphasized that the Special Intensive Revision process must be conducted in a proper, transparent, and reliable manner. He urged all officials and stakeholders involved in the exercise to carry out their duties with utmost sincerity and vigilance.
Shri Donny Lalruatsanga pointed out that Lawngtlai District contains several polling stations with a large number of eligible voters, making careful verification essential during the revision process. He stressed that only genuine Indian citizens aged 18 years and above should be enrolled in the Electoral Roll and warned against the wrongful inclusion of foreigners or non-citizens. Highlighting the importance of voting rights in a democratic nation, he stated that no eligible voter should be deprived of their constitutional right to vote.
The DEO further informed that a fresh Electoral Roll would be prepared during the SIR exercise, and even existing voters would be required to submit applications for inclusion through the prescribed “Enumeration Form.” He appealed to political parties, churches, civil society organisations, and the general public to cooperate fully in ensuring the success of the revision process.
Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Shri H. Zonunmawia stated that SIR 2026 would serve as an important opportunity to maintain a clean, accurate, and transparent Electoral Roll. He called upon political parties and community leaders to extend full cooperation in ensuring that only genuine Indian citizens are enrolled.
