Aizawl, May 24, 2026:
In a major humanitarian initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare support across the Northeast, the Formosa Foundation on Saturday donated 500 oxygen concentrators for distribution across Mizoram and neighbouring northeastern states through the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA).
The distribution programme was held at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl in the presence of Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Director General of Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, who attended the event as the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Lalduhoma highly appreciated the continued humanitarian support extended by the Formosa Foundation to the people of Mizoram over the years. He stated that the Foundation played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic and has consistently stood beside the state through various welfare and relief initiatives.
Recalling the Foundation’s previous contributions, the Chief Minister noted that in collaboration with CYMA, the organisation had earlier donated ambulances, anti-drug campaign vehicles, disaster relief materials, school buses, and assistance to hospitals, churches, and orphanages across Mizoram.
He also conveyed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for assisting in the transportation and distribution of the oxygen concentrators to different locations.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera described oxygen concentrators as life-saving medical equipment, sharing that his own family had personally experienced their importance during critical times. He expressed confidence that the donated units would greatly benefit patients and healthcare facilities in need.
Meanwhile, Formosa Foundation Chairman Jonathan Lalremruata reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to humanitarian service and welfare activities in partnership with the government and civil society organisations.
According to CYMA leaders, the 500 oxygen concentrators were distributed not only among selected YMA branches in Mizoram, but also to branches in Assam, Tripura, and Manipur, along with certain YLA and MTP branches.
In a notable gesture of solidarity and compassion, the Zuangtui Branch YMA donated its allotted oxygen concentrators to the Behliangchhip Branch in Tripura, reflecting the spirit of unity and mutual support among communities in the region.
