The construction of two major bridges — Terei Bridge and Langkaih Bridge — marks a significant step toward improving road connectivity and transportation infrastructure in Mizoram and along the Mizoram–Tripura border region.
Terei Bridge, a double-lane built-up steel girder bridge situated on the Bairabi–Zamuang road approximately 7 kilometers from Bairabi, was completed with a total project expenditure of Rs 2,765.60 lakhs, including financial support from NABARD and SASCI. An amount of Rs 1,276.74 lakhs was utilized under the project, highlighting the government’s continued investment in strengthening regional infrastructure and connectivity.
Meanwhile, for the construction of Langkaih Bridge, a NABARD (RIDF-XXIII) loan amounting to Rs 2,231.91 lakhs was sanctioned on 29 January 2018. The tender process was initiated in the same year, and the construction work was awarded to M/s Sadguru Engineers & Allied Services Private Limited on 27 March 2018 with an agreement value of Rs 2,203.26 lakhs.
Langkaih Bridge is strategically located along the Mizoram–Tripura border between Kanhmun village and Damcherra village, and is expected to significantly improve inter-state transportation, trade movement, and public accessibility in the border areas.
The completion and progress of these bridge projects are expected to enhance economic activities, ease transportation challenges, and strengthen connectivity for people living in remote regions.
