Mizoram Assembly Concludes Two-Day Monsoon Session with Key Legislations
Aizawl, August 28 – The two-day Monsoon Session of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly came to a close on Thursday, with Speaker Lalbiakzama adjourning the House sine die after an eventful sitting that witnessed the passage of four important legislations and the adoption of one official resolution.
One of the landmark bills passed was the Mizoram Prohibition of Beggary Bill, 2025, introduced by Social Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii, which seeks to curb the issue of begging in the state through both legal prohibition and welfare-based rehabilitation measures.
The House also gave its nod to the Mizoram Local Bodies Ombudsman Bill, 2025, tabled by Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister K. Sapdanga, paving the way for the establishment of an independent authority to examine complaints and ensure accountability within local bodies.
In addition, two amendment bills were cleared:

The Mizoram (Land Revenue) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, presented by Revenue Minister B. Lalchhanzova, and
-
The Mizoram Private Placement Agencies (Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, introduced by Labour & Employment Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar.
Both amendments were unanimously approved by the House.
The Assembly further adopted an official resolution moved by the Minister of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, bringing the provisions of the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act, 2023 (No. 15 of 2023) into full effect across the state from 2025.
With these legislative measures, the Ninth Mizoram Legislative Assembly successfully wrapped up its monsoon sitting, marking two days of significant lawmaking aimed at strengthening governance, accountability, and environmental stewardship in the state.
