Aizawl, September 1, 2025 (Changhma Times News):
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mizoram State Unit today convened a Thanksgiving and Political Session at the State Conference Hall, Mipui Rûn, Upper Republic, Aizawl. The programme was chaired by Pu Zohmingthanga, Ex-Treasurer, BJP Aizawl District, with Pu VL Awia, State Vice President presiding over the proceedings. Reports on party activities and West Phaileng election updates were presented by Pu Lalfakzuala Hauzel, State General Secretary, followed by speeches from Pu K. Hrahmo, MLA, Pu K. Sanghluna, State Secretary, and several other party members.
Addressing the gathering, Pu K. Hrahmo, MLA, expressed gratitude for the religious freedom enjoyed in India, stating that Christians, despite being only about 2% of the population, live securely in a Hindu-majority country. He highlighted the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as a blessing for Christians, recalling how in 2024, under this Act, Joseph Francis Pereira, a Christian from Pakistan, was granted Indian citizenship in Goa. He further proposed the idea of introducing a Christian Friendly Act (CFA) for greater protection and opportunities.
Meanwhile, Pu K. Sanghluna, State Secretary, underlined that the lotus, BJP’s symbol, was also prophetically mentioned in the writings of late Pastor Chhawna, who envisioned the lotus blooming across Mizoram. He said this vision is gradually turning into reality as BJP continues to gain the trust of the people. Despite criticisms, he noted, BJP has been engaging constructively with churches and pastors, drawing wider public support.
“Today, people are seeking a real alternative,” Pu Sanghluna remarked, stressing that the BJP is steadily emerging as the people’s choice. He assured that under BJP’s governance, numerous development projects will be launched with strong backing from the Central Government, ensuring progress for Mizoram. He also emphasized that even contractors who previously lacked opportunities would benefit under BJP’s development initiatives.
The session concluded with a renewed call for unity and commitment towards Mizoram’s advancement under the BJP’s leadership.
